Affiliated Helps Local University with Voice Over IP Solution

A local university requested that Affiliated assist them in installing Nortel’s remote office 9150 VOIP solution. The University has an office off site about 15 miles across town and wanted to provide voice services to the branch. They have an ISDN connection running from the main campus off an Option 81. Affiliated’s technical team tested and programmed the 9150. The remote office is up and working. Mike Ramsey, Affiliated’s General Manager in Austin commented, " We are seeing a lot of applications in the area for VOIP. Nortel has a solid solution but you need to have a Nortel partner manage the installation." The University is now looking at deploying additional VOIP in a work at home environment.

Local School District Requires Expertise

About four years ago, Affiliated Telephone was asked to bid on a voice solution for a local school district. Little did we know this was going to be one of the fastest growing school districts in North Texas. Affiliated Telephone won the bid and since then have installed twenty-two Opt 11C systems all networked into an Opt 81C. The school district asked for additional technologies that would improve the way they conducted day to day business. Affiliated implemented a Callpilot system with 20,000 mailboxes, desktop messaging and desktop fax capabilities. This allowed the school district to unify their messaging systems and streamline their faxing. This year Affiliated is implementing VOIP to remote buildings on the school campuses with great success.

Affiliated successfully upgrades over 18 Meridian 1 PBX’s

Affiliated upgraded 18 Nortel Meridian locations with 5 digit dialing for a large county in Texas. Affiliated also upgraded 5000 voice mailboxes and over 200 voice mail menus. Affiliated prepared for several weeks with the customer to ensure a smooth cutover. Telephones were relabeled 2 weeks prior to cutover. Affiliated worked with Nortel Networks. The upgrades were performed remotely from Affiliated’s in-house Dallas technical center. Within 6 hours Affiliated completed the upgrades. Affiliated tested each system to ensure proper configuration. Additionally, traffic studies were performed to verify all DID trunking. The county was impressed with Affiliated’s ability to handle and manage such a large project.
